比較 (比較級・最上級) の解き方とポイント

比較 (比較級・最上級) とは
中2 英語の山場が比較表現。3 段階 (原級・比較級・最上級) を適切に使い分けられるかが問われます。
**原級 (as ~ as)**: 『A は B と同じくらい〜』 ・形: as + 形容詞/副詞の原形 + as ・例: He is as tall as me. (彼は私と同じくらい背が高い) ・否定: not as ~ as = 『〜ほど…ない』
**比較級 (-er than)**: 『A は B より〜』 ・短い語: -er を付ける (taller, faster) ・長い語 (3 音節以上): more + 形容詞 (more beautiful) ・例: She runs faster than I do.
**最上級 (the ~est)**: 『最も〜』 ・短い語: the + -est (the tallest) ・長い語: the most + 形容詞 (the most interesting) ・後ろに in / of (in Japan = 範囲、of all = 集合) ・例: Mt. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan.
**不規則変化** — 必ず覚える: ・good / well → better → best ・bad / ill → worse → worst ・many / much → more → most ・little → less → least
**応用表現**: ・the 比較級 of the two (2 つのうちのより〜): He is the taller of the two. ・比較級 + and + 比較級 (だんだん〜): It's getting colder and colder. ・the 比較級, the 比較級 (〜すればするほど): The more, the better.

- 1比較級 (〜よりも): -er + than、または more + 形容詞 + than
- 2最上級 (最も〜): the + -est、または the most + 形容詞
- 3不規則: good/well → better → best、bad → worse → worst
- 4as 〜 as: 同じくらい〜
- 5比較級を強める: much (はるかに〜), even, far

よくある質問
Q. 比較級と最上級、どっちを使うか分からない
A. 比較する相手が 2 人 (2 つ) なら比較級、3 人 (3 つ) 以上なら最上級。『一番』『最も』が使えるなら最上級、『A より B のほうが』なら比較級。
Q. long / short の比較で more long とは言わないの?
A. 言いません。-er, -est を付けます (longer / longest)。more / most を使うのは『3 音節以上』が目安。迷ったら音節を数えて、3 つ以上なら more / most。
